Meet the team
Meet Becca.

Becca Ward, DNP, PMHNP-BC
Founder & Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
I’m Becca Ward, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and the founder of The Art of Being. After years of working in mental health, I knew I wanted to create something that felt different. Less clinical and intimidating. More comfortable, honest, creative, and human.
A diagnosis may be part of your story, but it isn’t who you are.
You’re not “the anxious one.” You’re not your depression, your ADHD, your trauma, or the medication list in your chart. You’re a whole, complicated person with a story that matters, and I want to hear it.
My approach to psychiatric care is straightforward, collaborative, and grounded in evidence, but there’s plenty of room for humor, honesty, and real conversation. I believe in listening before prescribing, explaining the “why” behind treatment decisions, and making sure you have a voice in your own care. I want us to make decisions about your treatment together.
The name The Art of Being grew from the idea that being human is its own kind of art. It’s imperfect. Individual. Sometimes messy. Always evolving. There isn’t one right way to live a meaningful, healthy life, and I’ve never been particularly interested in putting people into neat little boxes.
I don’t believe mental health treatment is about creating some perfectly polished version of yourself. It’s about understanding yourself better. Feeling more comfortable in your own skin. Finding what works. Making peace with some things, changing others, and learning how to navigate the beautifully messy business of being a person.
Outside the office, I’m a wife and mom, an art and music lover, a collector of tattoos, and a firm believer that professional and interesting are absolutely allowed to exist in the same person.
Most importantly, I want you to feel comfortable being yourself here. You don’t need the right words. You don’t need to have everything figured out. And you definitely don’t need to pretend you’re doing better than you are.
Just show up as yourself. That’s more than enough to start.
I can’t wait to meet you and hear your story.
-Becca
